December saw me take on my 17th and final challenge, the Glasgow Santa Dash. Alongside my family, we all braved the cold on a wintery Sunday morning and ran 5k through the streets of Glasgow. The sights were fantastic as all your could see for miles were Santas!
It was a great challenge to finish up on and especially to have all the family do it with me. Even our newest addition, my cousin's daughter 5 month old Edith, came along for the ride! The most touching thing was the steam of donations which came in after the challenge. The amount of people who I haven't seen or spoken to in years but who wanted to donate to the charity was overwhelming.
A year ago I would never have thought I would have managed all the challenges, but it has been an incredible experience and a great way to do something in memory of Granny Paton and help other families who are living with dementia. The whole experience has made me realise I am capable of a lot more than I ever thought I would be. Thank you to everyone who took part in a challenge with me, or was behind the scenes helping me organise it or there cheering me on. There are too many people to mention, but you all know who you are!
Despite the requests... NO, I will not be doing 18 in 2018! Hopefully I've inspired someone else to take up the challenge and have as much fun as I have had and do something incredible!
Here's a round up of 17 in 2017:
805m loch swim
100 golf balls
23 mile walk
13.5 mile half marathon
10.5 mile cycle
8 mile hill climb
1 pround Granny
